  Welding, cutting, chipping, painting...
It is such an exiting time now, seeing the changes on Fyne Spirit. After all the welding, cutting, chipping, painting, we are now in the stage of the final outfit. The electricians are starting to connect all the cable they have been pulling all over the ship. The wipers are wiping, the horn is producing a clear & powerful blast and the intercom from the bridge to the crew cabins is working as well. The engineers have been getting all dirty and greasy for the past months, but it has paid off. Our engine is running smoothly and the generators are being rebuilt. Our 3 carpenters are working really hard to get the passenger cabins ready for the furniture, which is on its way from Germany and will arrive the beginning of March.
The welders are busy doing some final welding work and building the galley.
At the same time, a lot has been going on shore side, like organizing crew, uniform, restaurant/bar/galley equipment, menus, cabin amenities…
We all are looking forward to the completion of Fyne Spirit.

The arguably best malt whisky is distilled in the West of Scotland.
And all those distilleries can be visited by M/V FYNE SPIRIT.

We follow the Classic Malts Cruise starting at Oban, then south to Islay and Jura, on to Tobermory and Talisker on Skye. Last not least Campbeltown, with its long tradition of whisky distilling.
Producing whisky is technically simple. Barley, then germination, fermentation, distillation, which is evaporation and condensation. Before the beginning, in-between, and at the end of all that ...ation, the real thing then is pure magic, water, peat, yeast, weather, knowledge, experience, and timing, all that is essential to get a Classic Malt into a bottle.

Fyne Spirit takes you there: Talisker, Tobermory, Oban, Campbeltown, Islay with Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Caol Ila, Bunnahabhain, Bowmore, Bruichladdich (my personal favourite), and on the Isle of Jura it is Craighouse. Do not the names spell magic?

Visit Loch Fyne Whiskies in Inveraray. Richard Joynson has all the malts on stock and will let you taste, nose, and explain the fine differences of each malt. And then check it all out yourself on the Malt Whisky Trail!
The history of malt whisky is a combination of Clan life, illegal distilling, introduction of barley, remoteness of islands and Highlands, and human determination. Studying, reading, and visiting distilleries makes you appreciate it. There is more to Malt Whisky than words can explain.

Clyde & Bute Classics : Inveraray – Campbeltown – Portpatrick – Isle of Arran – Great Cumbrae – Isle of Bute – Arrochar – Tighnabruaich – Inveraray

From Rothesay, on the Isle of Bute, Fyne Spirit will head north. We will sail all the way to Arrochart at the top of Loch Long, offering you some amazing panoramas, and then make our way back to Dunoon, where we will arrive in the evening and stay overnight.

Dunoon is the largest town in Argyll and used to be a very popular holiday destination with the Glaswegians. The nearby US submarine base on Holy Loch was the town’s lifeline, but it is closed now.
Every year, during the last weekend of August, Dunoon hosts the Cowal Highland Gathering, the world’s largest highland games, with a spectacular March of pipes and drums through the street.

Besides exploring the town, there is the possibility to hire a bicycle to explore Dunoon and its surroundings. For the more adventurous there is a horse riding and trekking centre.

The departure from Dunoon is planned in the afternoon. Our next destination will be Tighnabruaich. Fyne Spirit will make her way through the Kyles of Bute, a passage not to be missed!!
